Israel ethnically cleanses Palestinians while the world watches By Paul J. Balles*
11 December 2007
Paul J. Balles shows how ethnic cleansing has been an integral part of Zionism and argues that, if Palestinians “cannot be removed by massacres and expulsion, they’ll be eliminated by ‘extermination’”.
In a recent article, Stephen Lendman wrote: "Against the sham backdrop of Annapolis, life in occupied Palestine is a daily struggle to endure and survive what Edward Said once referred to as Israel's 'refined viciousness'."
Explaining his comment, Lendman added:
| Talks are futile as long as Israel spurns peace, violates international law, attacks Palestinian civilians, seizes their land, destroys their homes, restricts their movements, conducts targeted assassinations, denies them essential services and holds Gaza under a medieval siege in the world's largest open-air prison while blaming the victims. | Lendman is right about the futility of gatherings like the recent one at Annapolis. The entire sham was designed and organized to get leading Arabs together with Israelis. None of it had anything to do with improving the conditions of Palestinians.
Ever since David Ben Gurion, Israel's leadership has been thoroughly dedicated to ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. Ben Gurion said, as long ago as 1937, "We must expel Arabs and take their place." It’s amazing that the Palestinians have survived the torment they've been subjected to.
Menachem Begin, Israeli terrorist head of Irgun, was responsible for the death of 100 Palestinians in Deir Yassen. Terror bombings in Jaffa, Haifa and Jerusalem led to the creation of 800,000-refugees frightened for their lives. Begin boasted: "Eretz Israel will be restored to the people (Jews) of Israel. All of it. And forever."
While Israelis constantly recant their aim of expulsion of Palestinians, most of the rest of the world simply ignores the reminders. Former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir proclaimed: "There is no such thing as a Palestinian people." To her, they didn't exist!
Yitzak Rabin, former Labour Party prime minister, wanted to create conditions to get Palestinians migrating "naturally" to Jordan from Gaza and the West Bank. In 1988, Ariel Sharon echoed the aim of creating conditions that would "induce people to leave".
Ten years later, Sharon was again echoing Zionist pledges to protect the Jewish state through "the eviction of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands". In 2006, Sharon's successor, Ehud Omert, told the US House of Representatives of his belief "in our people's eternal and historic right to this entire land".
Each time the mantra gets repeated, the world listens, genuflects and turns away. The only time a slight utterance of discontent is heard from America, Israel's empire-building puppet, comes when the Israelis start yet another illegal Jewish settlement on Palestinian lands, adding to the 190 already there.
America remains Israel's puppet. The European Union stays spineless, Africa, Latin America and the Indian sub-continent are wrapped up in their own problems. China, Russia and southeast Asia watch from the sidelines. Meanwhile, the genocide of a people by those who know what they're doing goes on.
Naeim Giladi, an Iraqi Jew lured to Israel by Mossad agents in the early 1950s, told the editor of The Link in New York where he immigrated after leaving Israel:
| I began to find out about the barbaric methods to rid the fledgling state of as many Palestinians as possible. The world recoils today at the thought of bacteriological warfare, but Israel was probably the first to actually use it in the Middle East. Jewish forces would empty Arab villages of their population often by threats, sometimes by gunning down a half-dozen young men so that the Arabs could not return. The Israelis put typhus and dysentery bacteria in the water wells to prevent the refugees from returning. | Ethnic cleansing has been an integral part of Zionism. If Palestinians cannot be removed by massacres and expulsion, they’ll be eliminated by "extermination".
