Insight into an American Zionist bigotBy Paul J. Balles*21 July 2004 Paul J. Balles highlights the case of an American Zionist bigot who, while not a Semite himself, is happy to articulate strongly anti-Semitic views. The bigot, a patent lawyer, refers to the Palestinians - a Semitic people - as "animals" who will be "locked in cages" by Israel's Apartheid Wall "away from the civilized peoples of the world". Dr Balles says that it is racists like this who "raise billions of dollars from America and the world to support a bigotry and hatred no less deadly in occupied Palestine than the Holocaust in Europe". Few things disgust me more than a bigot accusing others of bigotry. American Zionists have been getting away with it for so long that even those who should be slightly more than brain dead carry on as if they could go on forever with impunity. Today I received an email from an American Zionist Jew in response to an article that I forwarded to him by Israeli peace activist and journalist Uri Avnery. Here's a synopsis of the article, published by Redress Information and Analysis:
The man that I forwarded the synopsis to, a patent attorney, should have enough working brain cells to realize that an intelligent article written by an Israeli could be a judicious warning to Jews everywhere that, if they overstep the bounds of truth in raving about anti-Semitism every time someone criticizes Israel or Zionism, that it could actually provoke anti-Jewish behaviour. The response I received from the American Zionist patent attorney illustrates what I'm getting at: "The fact that one Frenchwoman created a hoax doesn't obscure the fact that there is homicidal anti-Semitism among the Muslim population of Europe and in France." The fact that Avnery's article didn't attempt to obscure anything doesn't deter this jingoist from attempting to dismiss the article with the shallowest of arguments. His later reference to Herzl and Sharon suggest that the attorney read the entire article simply ignoring Uri Avnery's observation that:
According to Galal Nassar, writing for Al-Ahram, "Herzl believed it would be possible, and indeed desirable, to seize the land of Palestine and expel its original inhabitants. The use of force was considered imperative; the Jewish state would be created by fait accompli." Benny Morris, in his Righteous Victims, wrote:
This, of course has been the Zionist propaganda line since the very beginning, furthered by David Ben-Gurion. For this Polish-born inspiration for all Zionists, "verbal battle, not dialogue, was his habitual mode of communication". He also had what Time magazine called "a volcanic temper". What did he do with his zealotry? He founded the State of Israel. He fostered the illegal development of Dimona and nuclear weapons. More abhorrent than anything else was Ben-Gurion's work at promoting mass migration to Palestine and leading the systematic campaign of terror and violence against the Palestinians. Wave after wave of Russian, Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews disgorged into Palestine, forcing Palestinians from their lands through terrorism that dwarfs modern suicide bombers who have been left hopeless after five decades under illegal occupation. However, the American Zionist attorney, following the indoctrination campaigns of the past, wants another million and half Jews to create yet another deluge from Europe to build more illegal settlements and displace more Palestinians. Having had his brain addled by the disinformation of the Zionist horde, the patent attorney, who once called me anti-Semitic, yields to the bigotry embedded in his head. He writes: "You live in Bahrain. You have lived with these people for 35 years. You love them. You can have them and you can keep them. Just keep them far, far away from me." Could there be anything more ironic than a Zionist who is not Semitic himself making a statement like that about the Semites I live among? Can there be any doubt that this fanatic, opinionated racist has been severely mentally challenged? If that wasn't convincing enough of the kind of distortion of truth this brain-dead attorney, and many others like him, has been subjected to, he adds: "The time for discussion is over. The walls are going up and the animals are being locked in cages away from the civilized peoples of the world. That's where they belong." The "animals" he refers to, the Palestinians, have been considered as less than human and treated accordingly by the Zionists. From the same disinformation campaigns, the Zionists raise billions of dollars from America and the world to support a bigotry and hatred no less deadly in occupied Palestine than the Holocaust in Europe. Will it be kosher for their current hero, Ariel Sharon, to install gas ovens to complete the job of ridding Palestine of the Palestinians? Probably not as long as American Zionist schlemiels pray to Yahweh for the wall to force their captives to exterminate themselves. Ridiculous? read the Zionist patent attorney's concluding remark: "And, as I long predicted, with no Israelis to kill, they'll start to kill each other." This is the voice of one of many fanatical American Zionists. Not very different from that of the founder of Israel, David Ben-Gurion, when he said, "If the anti-Semites want to hate, let them hate, and let them go to hell." Ben-Gurion and his followers, like the patent attorney, have done much to engender that hate. They've also abused it to generate more mass migrations to dispossess the Palestinians, provoking even more hate. The greatest misfortune to the Jews derives from the fact that the rabid Zionists ignore Ben-Gurion's more temperate wisdom: "The State of Israel will prove itself not by material wealth, not by military might or technical achievement, but by its moral character and human values." *Paul Balles is a retired American university professor and freelance writer who has lived in the Middle East for 34 years.
